(R.A.C.E.S.)
Homeland Security has placed many new requirements on Emergency Management Divisions since 9/11/2001. One of these requirements is to use an Incident Command System (ICS) in particular the National Incident Management System (NIMS). To meet this goal for Wasthenaw County and its local governmental units the following phase in of required training was adopted at the last R.A.C.E.S. E-comm training course (June 13, 2007).
Existing requirements (current Washtenaw R.A.C.E.S. members have this now):

Criminal background check
Additional requirements for current members and applicants before October 31, 2007:
IS- 700 National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction (due by October 31, 2007)
IS - 800 National Response Plan (NRP), An Introduction (due by October 31, 2007)
IS - 100 Introduction to Incident Command System (due by December 31, 2007)
IS - 200 ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents (due by December 31, 2007)
Applicants received between November 1, 2007 and December 31, 2007:
Ham license
Criminal background check release form signed

IS - 700 National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction (due December 31, 2007)
IS - 800 National Response Plan (NRP), An Introduction (due December 31, 2007)
IS - 100 Introduction to Incident Command System (due July 1, 2008)
IS - 200 ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents (due July 1, 2008)
After January 1, 2008, applicants will need:
Ham license
Criminal background check release form signed

Six months to complete:
Suggested Training:
Procedure to apply for R.A.C.E.S. credentials
Make two copies of your Amateur Radio License
Call the Washtenaw County Office of Emergency Management at 734-973-4900 to set up an appointment to:
take one copy of your Amateur Radio License
take one copy of your Transcripts or Certificates
have your picture taken
sign the background check release form
Mail the other copy of your Amateur Radio License and Certificates to the Ben Pinette KC8NIY Washtenaw County Deputy EC/RO find address here.
When you receive your R.A.C.E.S. credential by mail please start checking into the Wednesday night R.A.C.E.S. net at 8:00PM on the 146.920 repeater. (looking forward to hearing you on the air!)
