Routine RACES Net Script

8:00PM, Wednesday nights on 146.920(-)

Good evening, and welcome to the Washtenaw County Routine Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service. My name is _______ (call sign), and I'm the Net Control station for tonight. The routine RACES net is activated each Wednesday night at 8PM here on the 146.920 K8RUR repeater. (Break) The Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service was created under F.C.C. rules for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and is coordinated locally by the Washtenaw County Emergency Management Division.  RACES provides radio communications support to the government in times of local, regional or national declared emergencies. According to F.C.C. rules, you must be a currently authorized RACES operator to check-into this net. I will be available to answer questions about RACES membership after this net, or during the routine ARES net which will follow on the 145.150 N8DUY repeater. (Break)

This is a check-in net only, unless you have traffic for the net. If so, simply state "TRAFFIC" when you check-in. The "TRAFFIC" must pertain to RACES operations. All other questions concerning amateur radio public service communications should be held for our routine ARES net. When you check-in, please give your call sign phonetically, followed by your first name, location, and any Skywarn spotter identification number (IF YOU WOULD LIKE OTHER DETAILS, MENTION THAT TOO!). If you're a part of another county's RACES program, please give your county's name when you check-in. (Break)

Now calling mobile and portable stations wishing to check-in to the Washtenaw County routine RACES Net. Please call (your call sign)?

Now calling fixed stations wishing to check-in to the Washtenaw County routine RACES Net. Please call (your call sign)

Now calling any late check-ins to the Washtenaw County routine RACES net. Please call (your call sign)

(Take check-ins a few times during the net, acknowledge stations who have checked-in, and specifically acknowledge those who indicated they had traffic. Let the traffic go ahead after you've taken your first batch of check-ins, take more check-ins, make any announcements you might have, then close the net!)

This concludes the Washtenaw County routine Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service Net. Thanks to all of you for participating, and thanks to K8RUR & the I-94 Repeater Group for the use of their repeater. Until next Wednesday evening the routine Washtenaw RACES Net is closed. Remember that the routine Amateur Radio Emergency Service Net, open to all amateur radio operators, will be starting shortly on the 145.150 N8DUY repeater. This is (your call sign) clear and returning the repeater to normal Amateur Radio use.

Thanks for helping out with the nets!

Doug Cox, N8ZLR
